About
Who is she?
Nancy Kutsup has called Garfield home for all but two years of her life. She has been deeply involved in the Garfield Public Schools District as a student, parent, educator, and administrator. Both she and her two children attended the Garfield school system from kindergarten through 12th grade. While in college, she pursued a degree in art alongside earning a certificate in education. After graduation, Mrs. Kutsup worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years before becoming an art educator at Garfield High School in 1990. She later earned a Master’s degree in Education with a certification in Supervision/Administration. After 15 years as an art educator, she was promoted to an administrative role, a position she held for 16 years until her retirement.
Nancy’s roots in Garfield run deep. Her mother’s family moved to the town in the early 1900s when her grandfather began working at Forstmann & Hoffman Woolen Mills on Lanza Avenue. After her grandparents passed away, her parents took ownership of the family home. Nancy married in 1977, and she and her husband, who have been married for 47 years, moved back to Garfield in 1979. In 1985, her mother subdivided the family land so Nancy and her husband could build their own home, where they have lived ever since.
She currently enjoys cooking and pickleball and plans to return to the creation of art.
