Richard is a lifelong resident of Garfield, where he and his wife, Margo (Scandale), have raised three children, all of whom attended Garfield schools. Richard had been deeply involved in the community for many years, serving in various roles such as a volunteer firefighter, a member of the City of Garfield Planning Board, and an active participant in organizations like the Elks, UNICO, Little League, and Girls Softball. He has also served as a YMCA trustee. Richard retired from Cablevision after 25 years and is a New Jersey Certified Educational Facilities Manager and School Transportation Supervisor. He has served as a former member of the Garfield Board of Education.

Nancy, a lifelong Garfield resident, has been actively involved in the Garfield Public Schools District as a student, parent, educator, and administrator. She and her children attended Garfield schools from kindergarten to 12th grade. After earning a degree in art and an education certificate, she worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years before becoming an art educator at Garfield High School in 1990. She later obtained a Master’s Degree in Education with certification in Supervision/Administration and served as an administrator, including vice principal, for 16 years until retirement.

Nancy’s family has deep roots in Garfield, dating back to the early 1900s when her grandfather worked at Forstmann & Hoffman Woolen Mills. She and her husband, married for 48 years, moved back to Garfield in 1979 and have lived in their family-built home since 1985.
